This is so fucked up! The very last place clients could go on Reddit has been taken away and it really makes no damn sense.ECO was a place for clients to go and talk about providers. They also voiced their grievances along with asking for help in a number of aspects. Whether it was finding the best provider for an individual, helping others avoid a certain provider, or just having a space to talk to like-minded others. The group was really the best one to help each other out rather than other groups that enjoyed talking smack about providers and all around starting trouble.
The shutdown happened early yesterday. Like what happened to the other client-controlled Reddit groups, one moment it was there and the next it was gone. Reddit has the habit of not letting the moderators know when their group will be shut down; they'll just shut it down without a second thought just because they can. The rumor is the group was shut down because there were exchanges of goods happening. I have no idea if this is true or not since I never really spent much time on Reddit, but what I do know is that the moderators were very diligent and knew what mistakes not to make after three other groups were shut down.
From what I can tell, Reddit is trying to clean house. At least that's what I'm thinking, but as I write this, I'm seeing the Sex Worker group is still up.
You wouldn't believe the number of providers celebrating the end of ECO. All of them screaming the same thing: "I'm glad that group is dead!!!" When all the group did was provide a place for clients to talk about providers. Sure, some of it was complaining, but at times we do need that, and it's not like you can tell civilians about this. You go to people who can understand you.
My opinion. This is bullshit!!! The fact that these providers can be so hypocritical about this group truly astounds me. They can have multiple places to talk about their experiences, put clients on a blacklist, and all around have others to complain about, but we can't have the same space. When we need the same space, it's a problem.
I understand some of us can be jerks; I mean, look at Bareseeder. That's not all of us, and they know that. We can't help that there are some bad seeds in our community just like they can't help there are scammers in theirs. This double standard stuff really needs to stop.
