This app came up in a tweet and me being myself I was curious. Signal is really no different WhatsApp, it’s a way for providers and clients to communicate without the fear of a third party seeing your messages with the end-to-end encryption. The messages erase themselves after a certain period of time, which is also pretty amazing but once again not to different from WhatsApp.
The reason providers prefer Signal over WhatsApp, is because unlike what’s up Signal is its own entity and isn’t owned by Facebook. With the data problems Facebook has had in the past and a little in the present some providers don’t want to risk using WhatsApp and I can’t really blame them.
Having and knowing about this app is a precaution for when a provider brings up a way to communicate. WhatsApp is good, but Signal may be better.
