Is Bringing an Escort to an event smart?

This may sound strange to most, but I have a goal of bringing an escort with me to a dinner function. I'm not talking about a family affair more like a work event. I was watching a podcast clip featuring the late Kevin Samuels and he explained how bringing an escort to a work event not only boosted his career but made people with power acknowledge him. Who would have thought having an escort on your arm carried so much weight.
Would you guys bring an escort to a event?
